Overview

The printing forecast: short and getting shorter

Like many print providers, you might be seeing a sharp increase in one-offs and short runs. The hands-on effort drives up your costs, hurts your profitability, and hampers your ability to deliver printed information in a timely and effective manner.

There's an alternative — RICOH TotalFlow® BatchBuilder, which simplifies and automates your short-run digital production. Instead of manually handling individual jobs, your staff members can set up "rules," let the software do the work and watch the information continue to flow.

Eliminate manual touches

TotalFlow BatchBuilder turns hands-on to hands-off because it organizes incoming jobs into similar batches based on criteria you set. Criteria can include document size, paper type, finishing style and so on — up to 100 variables.

Prevent duplication of effort

When MIS, W2P and prepress systems are siloed, you lose a lot of time either re-entering data or duplicating tasks. Fortunately, TotalFlow BatchBuilder can talk to other systems via XML, JDF or PDF (via hot folders). With the help of third-party mapping software, it uses XML to map job ticket information for specific devices, automates scheduling, and integrates upstream systems and downstream devices.

Build scenarios and the jobs will flow

Don’t waste operators’ time prioritizing and overseeing jobs.  TotalFlow BatchBuilder can run with scenario scheduling and filter jobs based on criteria you define. After batches of similar jobs are created, you can control how and when to route them based on your instructions. You can even add or delete jobs in any batch.

Keep an eye on everything

Tracking down jobs on the shop floor takes a lot of time. With TotalFlow BatchBuilder, you gain a 360-degree view of your shop because all of your information flows through one point — the web-based GUI. Log in from anywhere, submit and track jobs, and view jobs based on specific job properties or fields you define.

Try it on for size

TotalFlow BatchBuilder fits nearly anywhere in commercial print shops with two or three cutsheet printers or in shops with fleets of cutsheet and continuous feed printers. For continuous feed devices like the InfoPrint 5000 and our new RICOH Pro VC6000  inkjet systems, the software provides a bonus: assistance with roll management. When you need to track documents for compliance or reporting purposes, BatchBuilder can send batches to RICOH ProcessDirector workflow software. Even better, you can download and use BatchBuilder free for 60 days.
